John Grant (Guitar)

John began playing guitar at age 13, although having been a fan of rock music since a VERY young age it wasn't until he discovered Jimi Hendrix that he finally took some guitar lessons at school. After much practice John was accepted to the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Guildford, Surrey onto their HND Popular Music Performance course and at age 17 travelled south to continue his studies.

After completing the HND course John then attended the Guitar Institute, London and gained a Bachelor in Popular Music Performance. Over the course of his musical education John was taught by musicians such as Shaun Baxter (Carl Palmer), Dave Kilminster (Roger Waters, Keith Emerson), Pete Callard (GIT Student of the Year and Guitar Techniques contributor), the late Eric Roche, Lee Hodgeson, Guthrie Govan, Ian Scott, Jamie Humphries, Charlie Griffiths, Pete Friesen (Alice Cooper) amongst other great musicians.

After finishing his studies John relocated back to North Lanarkshire where he started life as a professional musician. Playing in local function bands on both guitar and bass guitar, a variety of dep. work in all styles of music from ceilidh and jazz to funk and soul, John split his time between live work and instrument tuition.

John currently plays with his own jazz duet "A Little Swing" and Guns 'n Roses tribute "Replica Guns", ceilidh band "SAS" and original material based funk/pop outfit "Vynil Play". John currently teaches at the Loud n Proud School of Rock in Paisley, a registered charity that helps kids get involved in live music as well as teaching privately.
