Scott Stevenson
Accordion
Scott has been playing the box from the age of 5, where he learned by ear. He dabbled in the house for 5 years, before taking proper lessons from Michael Philip aged 10. He started competing at 12. He finally won the junior national championships at Musselburgh in 1997 when he was 15 after two or three years of 2nds and thirds. He then won his first senior event a few months later, and then lost interest in the competing scene. Scott has represented Kirkcaldy in their twin town of Ingolstadt, playing live on German television. After 10 years away from the competing circuit Scott has recently returned, taking a third place at the National championships earlier this year. He is currently back under the guidance of well known accordionist Michael Philip. Scott is a brilliant composer and heavily influences some of the bands sets with his own compositions. His style is very much about taking the ancient instrument of the accordion and presenting it in a new light. He is known as the man with the electric fingers. He is a particular enthusiast of pipe music.
