
Steven has been playing the bagpipes since 1984, he started playing when he was only 8 years old. He has won numerous contests both as a soloist and as a band player. As a soloist, his medal haul includes two bronze medals from the Cowal Highland Gathering, a 2nd place at the MacGregor Memorial Pibroch Contest, and a runners up spot at the World Junior Solo Piping Championships. He has won many minor competitions, including winning the Fife Under 19 Championship at the age of 15. On the band front, Stevie has won prizes in every major championship at the highest level. He has also won the World and British Championships in the lower grades. He appears on the Vale of Atholl CD’s: ‘Live in Frankfurt’ and ‘Back to the Future’, he also plays with ‘The Vale’ on the ‘Millenium Concert’ album and countless World Championship releases. The highlights of his non competitive piping career to date are playing before the champions league final at Hampden prior to kick off, Playing to sell out crowds at the Stade De France, Paris, the opening of the Scottish Parliament, playing for the British Team at the 2004 Olympics in Athens. Being invited to play at JK Rowlings 40th Birthday Bash. St Patrick and Tartan Day parades in New York and Boston, launch of Matisse Whisky in Beijing, China. Guest member of the ‘Red Hot Chilli Pipers’, who played along with the Dakness at the T in the Park Music Festival. Guest member of American Rockers ‘The Bravery’ as they took the stage at T in the Park the following year. Stevie is also resident piper for some of the most prestigious venues in Scotland. His company Scotia Pipers were voted outstanding Wedding Suppliers (Vows Award) winners in 2007. Steven plays personally at around 100 Weddings a year.
